- Protocols | Action Youth America
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS Quarantine or isolation? You quarantine when you might have been exposed to the virus. You isolate when you have been infected with the virus, even if you don’t have symptoms. Quarantine Procedures: Quarantine if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19, unless you have been fully vaccinated . People who are fully vaccinated do NOT need to quarantine after contact with someone who has COVID-19 unless they have symptoms . However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 3-5 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative. COVID-19 symptoms: Fever Cough Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing Chills Repeated shaking with chills Fatigue Muscle pain Headache Sore throat Congestion or runny nose Nausea or vomiting Diarrhea New loss of taste or smell WHAT TO DO NEXT? For Staff and Families If you experience any of the above symptoms you should, stay home from work and isolate yourself. Test yourself after 3-5 days after feeling the first symptom. Call your healthcare provider to discuss whether you need to be evaluated or tested for COVID-19. Results of the PCR test will inform the next steps. Where can staff get the PCR test? Testing Information Website for SAN BERNARDINO AREAS: https://sbcovid19.com/testing-sites/ Testing Information Website for LOS ANGELES COUNTY AREAS: https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/ Make an appointment online or some accept walk-ins; testing is FREE . What do the results mean? If you receive a Positive test result, you MUST notify Program Coordinator . You must isolate and ONLY return to in-person work after: When you have received a negative test Isolation must continue until these conditions are met, even if that extends the isolation period beyond the 10 days. If the staff member receives a Negative test result, you must provide a note from your healthcare provider stating that your symptoms are not related to COVID-19 or provide a negative lab report. Based on documentation and information provided, you may be cleared to return to work. What to do when exposed to some who has tested positive for COVID-19? Stay home for 3-5 days after your last contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. Watch for fever (100.4◦F or higher), cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19. If possible, stay away from people you live with, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19. If you are experience symptoms, a COVID-19 test must be taken and shown proof to your Program Coordinator. Anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 should stay home after their last exposure to that person. However, anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 and who meets the following criteria does NOT need to stay home. Someone who has been fully vaccinated and shows no symptoms of COVID-19. However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 3-5 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative. Or Someone who has COVID-19 illness within the previous 3 months and has recovered. Remains without COVID-19 symptoms (for example, cough, shortness of breath) You can be around others after: 10 days since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving Your local public health authorities make the final decisions about how long quarantine should last, based on local conditions and needs. Follow the recommendations of your local public health department if you need to quarantine. Options they will consider include stopping quarantine. What is isolation? Isolation is used to separate people infected with COVID-19 from those who are not infected. People who are in isolation should stay home until it’s safe for them to be around others. At home, anyone sick or infected should separate from others, stay in a specific “sick room” or area, and use a separate bathroom (if available). Things to be mindful for to stop the spread: Stay in a separate room from other household members, if possible. Use a separate bathroom, if possible. Avoid contact with other members of the household, community and pets. Don’t share personal items, like cups, towels, utensils, etc. Wear a mask when around other people if able. Wash hands frequently and wipe down areas you have touched with a disinfecting spray or wipe. Learn more about what to do if you are sick and how to notify your contacts . More Information on COVID-19: Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation Note that these recommendations do not apply to people with severe COVID-19 or with weakened immune systems (immunocompromised). People who are severely ill with COVID-19 might need to stay home longer than 10 days and up to 20 days after symptoms first appeared. People with weakened immune systems may require testing to determine when they can be around others. Talk to your healthcare provider for more information. Your healthcare provider will let you know if you can resume being around other people based on the results of your testing. People who are immunocompromised should be counseled about the potential for reduced immune responses to COVID-19 vaccines and the need to continue to follow current prevention measures (including wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others they don’t live with, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces) to protect themselves against COVID-19 until advised otherwise by their healthcare provider. Close contacts of immunocompromised people should also be encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to help protect these people. - ICES Education | Program Overview
We have outlined our successful methodology that has allowed us to maintain our quality and commitment to our partners and students who join us every day. Action Youth America (AYA), formerly known as ICES Education has been serving California families for over 30 years, providing top-quality service in academics, sports, and other areas of education. Our programs are built upon the foundation of excellence and time-tested methods that have allowed us to be one of the leading providers of before and after-school programs in the United States. Program Structure Each after-school program has a Site Director who is regularly at his/her school for a minimum of 6 hours per school day. Site Directors liaise with school staff to ensure that programs run according to Action Youth America policy and align with school life in general. In addition to Site Directors, our programs are continuously monitored and developed by Program Coordinators and Consultant Specialists who together ensure that the highest of standards are met. Academic Coordinators Action Youth America programs are academically driven as we understand the need for providing complementary academic support to the instructional day in order for students to meet their full potential. Action Youth America academic coordinators are responsible for assuring optimal academic alignment to school and district needs. They are formally trained on Common Core learning expectations and write, or can assist in writing a curriculum around the principles of Common Core. Additionally, they work with interventions, state testing prep camps, and modeling/training. Healthy Lifestyle Collaboration Among the millions of children and young people in our communities, poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles cause serious health problems, lower self-esteem, lead to social and psychological problems and contribute to poor academic performance. Action Youth America has teamed up with The Center for Collaborative Solutions in supporting the state-sponsored Healthy Behaviors Initiative After-School Programs. Through this collaboration, Action Youth America is piloting an array of healthy living practices in its programs to combat this serious issue. If you are interested in knowing more or wish to have this program at your school, please contact our corporate office.
